Pavenham Footpaths
A Circular Walk
About 5 miles.
Between 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Start from the Village Hall, follow FP7 along the edge of the playing field, with the woods on your left.
At the top of the field, pass though the kissing gate onto the Golf Course, continue to follow FP7.
The river can be glimpsed through the wood on the right.
Turn left on to FP13.
The path traverses the Golf Course as it climbs-fine views of the course, river valley and escarpment.
At Church Lane, turn right towards Felmersham.
After fifty yards, turn left onto BW9.
Panoramic views to the south and west, across the river valley to Bedford and Stevington.
On clear days, Stevington Mill and the Chiltern Hills escarpment may be seen.
Pass the junctions of FP10 (on left) and FP14 (on right).
In the springtime a short northward diversion up FP14 can be taken to see bluebells in Green's Spinney.
At FP8 turn left, through the farm gate and go down the hill, over stiles to the back of the poultry farm and The Retreat, to join FP11.
Go past the former chapel to the High Street.
At the High Street, turn left and cross over the road.
Go to FP5 at the rear of Derwent Cottages (one time the village workhouse).
Follow the path across the meadow to join FP A1.
(FP A1 goes to Stevington, prior to the parish boundary.Traverse a boardwalk to a Site of Special Scientific Interest-Great horsetail grows, the ancient leafless and flowerless plant, dating back to Carboniferous Times. Another bluebell wood is a short distance further on.)
At FP A1, turn left, follow pathalong more pasture meadows to the bottom of Mill Lane.
Cross diagonally over Mill Lane and go down the back of River Row.
Cross the stile and follow FP2 eastwards until you reach the Pavenham Road at the start of the causeway.
Access is permitted to Bridge Meadow, managed by the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
A traditional hay meadow alongside the Great Ouse. An ideal place for picnic or stroll by the river.
Turn left and follow the road back to the Village Hall.
